Hosting an event outdoors, whatever time of the year can present certain risks. Thanks to the quality of the products we use, and the assembly techniques utilised, cancellations due to gusty conditions are few and far between.

This article guides you through the processes we have in place to maintain a safe marquee in windy conditions. Generally speaking, we ensure our marquees can withstand winds of up to 40-50mph.

Well Grounded

The primary issue with marquees and wind is the uplift effect. Staking ground bars around the full circumference of the marquee is the first defence against wind. Taking this one step further, we fortify this with ground bar weights to add a significant downward force over the hooks, restricting the upward pull.

Powder-Coated Metal Joints

Unlike plastic and steel, powder-coated metal joints offer the most robust frame. The powder coating ensures they’ll never rust, when combined with the heavy-duty locking screws provides the most rigid and secure marquee frame in the UK. Plastic joints are known for cracking under the movement that strong gales produce.

Well Positioned

The long side of a marquee offers much more wind resistance compared to an open end. When planning the location of the marquee, our team will take into consideration the wind direction to mitigate the force of wind that the open end is subjected to.

Ultra Durable PVC Lining

PVC offers the best in class material for weatherproof tents. Our tents benefit from heavy-duty 650gsm PVC, over four times the amount of durability that a typical PE (polyethylene) marquee can offer.

As a marquee is a temporary structure, there is a limit to the amount of harsh weather it can withstand. Our team will provide honest advice with regards to the suitability of a marquee at your event. If we don’t deem it safe, we won’t put you at risk.
